Time: 6.00pm - 7.30pm

Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place on 27 January each year, the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1945. HMD was initiated in 2000 to remember victims and survivors and to raise awareness of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.
As part of the build up to the regional commemoration, which takes place in Belfast on 24 January 2019, The Executive Office, in partnership with The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is hosting an evening with Eric Eugene Murangwa MBE, a survivor of the 1995 Genocide in Rwanda.
Eric Eugene Muranga MBE played for Kigali’s top football team. During the Genocide in Rwanda his fellow players protected him from the killing. Today Eric runs an organisation which uses football to promote tolerance, unity and reconciliation among Rwandan youth. Come along and hear of his story of survival.
