Vandalism at Sixmile Leisure Centre
04 November 2015
Sixmile Manager, Neil McGowan and Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg assess the vandalism caused over the weekend.
Today the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg joined staff at Sixmile Leisure Centre to assess damage caused by vandals on Saturday night. Leisure centre staff discovered that a large window overlooking the small pool had been broken. Speaking about the incident, Councillor Hogg said;
“Since September a total of seven windows have been broken at Sixmile Leisure Centre. This is an absolute disgrace and a total waste of ratepayers’ money. Last year £3000 was spent on repairing damage caused by vandalism. These windows will cost in excess of £2400 to replace. This mindless antisocial behaviour must come to an end. I would ask anyone who has any information to contact the local PSNI.”
PSNI officers have visited the centre and have viewed the centre’s CCTV footage. Anyone with information should Tel: 028 9065 0222.
