Ulster Scots Flair at The May Fair

Deputy Mayor, Councillor John Blair at the launch of the Ballyclare May Fair with ‘Ulster Scots Men’ from Living History Ireland. The May Fair will run from Tuesday 19 May to Saturday 24 May.
Ballyclare is set to see plenty of Ulster Scots flair with the May Fair programme which will run from Tuesday 19 May until Saturday 24 May.
The first of the Ulster Scots events will take place on Tuesday 19 May with a storytelling session from the well-known Billy Teare. Thursday 21 May will see a talk with speaker Laura Spence, the BBC Ulster Scots producer, while later that evening the popular Ulster Scots folk group, Risin Stour, will perform at the Ceilidh night. On Saturday 24 May, Town Hall will play host to lots of traditional Ulster Scots music and dance with Down and Out Bluegrass Band and Another Wee Gatherin’ presented by the Major Sinclair Memorial Band.
Other highlights throughout the week will include the traditional horse trading, family fun days, Garth Brooks Tribute, amusements, yard of ale competition, pet show and a sing-along screening of family favourite, Frozen! The May Fair will end with a spectacular fireworks display at 10.15pm on Saturday 24 May in Ballyclare Town Centre.
