16 July 2015
Launching the relaxed performance of Oliver! The musical are the Mayor, Cllr Thomas Hogg; Margaret Field, Autism NI and cast members Corrie Earley and Jordan Walker. The performance will be staged at 2.30pm on Saturday 1 August.
Saturday 1 August will see Theatre at The Mill host a relaxed performance of Oliver! the musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel.
The show, staged by Theatre at The Mill’s Summer Youth Theatre, tells the story of 9 year old orphan Oliver Twist who falls in with a group of street-urchin pickpockets led by the Artful Dodger and masterminded by the wily and devious criminal, Fagin.
This relaxed performance of Oliver! is specially designed to welcome people with an autism spectrum condition, sensory or communication disorder, or learning disability into the theatre. It will have a less formal, more supportive environment to reduce anxiety and lighting and sound levels will be adjusted to soften their impact. The atmosphere in the auditorium will be relaxed and members of the audience will be free to come and go as they please throughout the performance. A quiet room will also be accessible.
The performance will take place at 2.30pm on Saturday 1 August and tickets start at £11 with concession rates available.
