Excitement is building for local students Matthew Audley and Ruby Irvine from Ballyclare Secondary School and Ballyclare High School who are getting set to jet off to Gilbert, in Phoenix, Arizona.  The students are taking part in the Sister Cities Student Exchange Programme, which has been now been running since 2000.

Speaking about the exchange programme, the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg commented;

“This year sees the student exchange programme celebrating 15 years and during this time many local students have been given the fantastic opportunity to travel and develop an understanding of a different country, its culture and people. I wish Matthew and Ruby an amazing trip and hope they come back to the Borough enriched from this exciting experience.”

Matthew and Ruby will spend three weeks experiencing the American way of life, staying with a host family and then return to the Borough with two students from Gilbert.
