New Slipway Arrangements at Antrim Lough Shore

10 June 2015

Arrangements for slipway access at Antrim Lough Shore Park are due to change from Monday 15 June, when a new barrier will be in place.  This is to enable authorised vehicles and emergency services to have easier access the slipway.

Karen Steele, Development Manager – Visitor Servicing explains in more detail, “Over the busy summer season, the area immediately in front of the slipway becomes very congested with cars, boats and pedestrians. The new measures being introduced will help ensure the slipway is clearer for emergency access by Lough Neagh Rescue and authorised users.  This will improve safety for everyone using the slipway, Six Mile Water River and Lough Neagh.”

A new registration scheme is also being introduced which will be managed through the nearby Six Mile Water Caravan Park.  This will further help slipway users by ensuring they have the appropriate insurances and licences.

To help with the transition of this new system, answer any questions you may have, and help with parking arrangements, staff will be on hand at the Lough Shore Park at the weekends and bank holidays through June to September.

In the meantime, if you would like any further information please contact Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council T: 028 9446 3113 or E. [email protected]
