Residents in the Greenview area of Parkgate should be feeling safer since the introduction of a new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.

Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators, Linda McBurney and Andrew Forshaw commented, “We are delighted to see the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme up and running and heartened that is has the support of residents in Greenview.  Through distributing information around the area, we have received very positive feedback and look forward to continuing to work and build relationships with the whole community.”

Julian McGrath, Representative of Parkgate and District Community Group added, “On behalf of the Community Group, I would like to thank Andrew and Linda for taking on the role of Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators in Greenview. The Community Group has worked hard getting flyers and information out in the area and would love to see the scheme extended across the entire village.  We hope that the successful implementation in Greenview could act as a template for the roll out in other areas.”

Constable Stephen Gill, PSNI, who has been involved in the establishment of the scheme remarked, “It has taken quite a while to get a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme established in the area and we hope this is the first of many.  Neighbourhood Watch is about promoting community spirit and essentially, about being good neighbours.  We look forward to good future partnership working between Greenview Neighbourhood Watch, PCSP and local policing in the area.  We would like to echo the sentiments of Parkgate and District Community Group and thank Andrew and Linda for taking on the role of Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators.”

Neighbourhood Watch schemes are delivered in partnership between local residents, PCSP and Police to tackle crime, fear of crime and Anti-social behaviour.  Antrim and Newtownabbey PCSP would encourage residents to consider establishing a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in their area if one does not already exist.
