The Old Courthouse, Antrim is delighted to welcome Hotbuckle Productions to the stage for their adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic – Emma on Thursday 15 October at 7.30pm.

Emma Woodhouse is handsome, clever and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition. She’s also a bit of a meddler. After her governess is married to the kindly Mr Weston (at Emma’s instigation of course), Emma’s path in life is clear. She must become a matchmaker.

Who better to start with than awkward, unpolished Harriet Smith - she of unknown parentage and the unfortunate object of a most unsuitable gentleman’s affections? Emma really has no choice but to take charge of the situation. Why, with her help, who knows how far Miss Smith could reach? Mr Elton, the charming young vicar? Or the prodigal son Frank Churchill, recently returned home after a long absence?

But as her interfering gets out of hand and events spiral beyond her control, it may be time for Emma to question her judgement. Gently advised by childhood friend Mr Knightley, can Emma untangle the web she’s spun? And what does she truly know of her own heart?

Following on from the wildly successful Persuasion, which played to a sold out audience at The Old Courthouse last year, Hotbuckle return to the stage with Austen’s most perfect novel.

Tickets are £10/£8 concession. To book, Tel: 028 9446 3113 or visit www.antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk/boxoffice.
