Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg officially launches the Antrim 5 mile Road Race which will take place on Friday 12 June, 7.30pm. He is joined by PACE Running Club members Vincent McCaffrey, Andree McCaffrey and Alistair Barron.

Are you looking for a fitness challenge? Then why not take part in the Antrim 5 mile Road Race? Starting and finishing at Antrim Stadium, the Road Race kicks off at 7pm on Friday 12 June.

An officially measured route, the event is ideal for both recreational and competitive runners and features Championship digital timing. For the younger runners, or the young at heart, a 1 mile fun run will also take place immediately before the main event.

Anna Boyle, Sport & Physical Activity Development Manager said; “The Antrim Road Race is a great event for running enthusiasts of all abilities. This year’s race takes in some of Antrim’s most scenic surroundings including the award winning Antrim Castle Gardens, Rea’s Wood and Lough Shore Park. And, with our 1 mile fun run available, there is something to challenge all the family!”

Anna continued; “As the course is officially measured and features digital timing, it’s a great way to set your pace for a longer 10k or half marathon. So come along, lace up those running shoes and put your best foot forward at the Antrim Road Race!”

Online registration is available by logging on www.athleticsni.org/Fixtures and will close on Wednesday 10 June 2015. Alternatively, you can register on the night at the event from 6.30pm. The first 100 entrants will also receive a free t-shirt.
