Dog Microchipping Roadshows

29 June 2015

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has joined forces with the Dogs Trust NI and People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) to take to the roads to tell residents about all things doggy!

Paul Chapman, Borough Warden explains, “The main aim of the road show is to promote responsible dog ownership.  Come along and have your dog microchipped free of charge.  All it involves is implanting a small chip in the lower neck of the dog which includes details of his owner and address. Should your dog get lost, a local vet or dog warden can scan the dog, retrieve the chip number and reunite him with his owners. ”

Paul continues, “We will also be on hand to give advice on dog control including stray dogs, unwanted dogs, barking dogs, licensing, welfare, fouling and free neutering for people on means tested benefits.       The PDSA will be conducting free health checks, ear cleaning and nail clipping on the 27 July at Stiles Community Centre and 29 July at Valley Leisure Centre.“
