Closures at Lilian Bland Community Park
28 May 2015
Due to refurbishment work at Lilian Bland Community Park, the public toilets, play area and adjoining games area will close from Monday 8th June for a four week period. While the public toilets are closed, portaloos will be made available near the carpark at Carnmoney Road. Speaking about the refurbishment, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg, commented;
“The Council is currently delivering an extensive redevelopment programme which includes a £500,000 refurbishment of Glengormley Pavilion, with an additional £100,000 being invested in the park. This follows consultation which took place last summer with young people, adults, community groups and residents from across the Glengormley area. Improvements will include a complete internal and external refurbishment of the existing pavilion as well as an extension, incorporating a reception and a multi-purpose room. Plans for the park include some replacement play equipment in the play area, an outdoor events space, new signage and replacement seating.
I would like to thank local residents for their contribution to the consultation process and also their patience at this time. I look forward to opening the fantastic new facilities in the near future.”
