Cinema Paradiso at The Old Courthouse, Antrim

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is delighted to present Cinema Paradiso, a new show by Karin Leitner and Mary McCague featuring music from the movies on Friday 20 November at 7.30pm in the Old Courthouse, Antrim.

Renowned Austrian flautist, Karin Leitner has played in Antrim on a number of occasions as part of Duo Medici, a classical flute and harp duo, and also with Irish harpist, Cormac de Barra. This time she returns to the Old Courthouse for an evening of romantic and inspiring film music from such movies as Chocolat, Amelie, Titanic, Twilight, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, Modigliani, plus well known pieces from that prolific creator of movie hits, Ennio Morricone. 

Karin is constantly touring and playing with orchestras worldwide and was Principal Flute in the Stage Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and Principal Piccolo in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This time, at the Old Courthouse, she teams up with Mary McCague, an acclaimed pianist and violinist originally from Dundalk but now living in Cork. Mary has won numerous awards for her playing and has toured extensively throughout America with her group, Affinití. She has also worked both as an orchestral pianist and violinist with all the professional orchestras in Ireland including performing as piano soloist with the RTE Concert Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra.
