Calling All Entrepreneurs…
24 August 2016
Do you have a great idea for a new town centre retail business or do you have an existing business which could grow further with a town centre presence?
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is offering up to six local entrepreneurs a funded opportunity to test trade in Antrim town centre. The pop-up shop initiative will aim to reinvigorate Antrim town centre with new entrepreneurial talent and innovative business ideas. Pop-up shops are an exciting global trend and are a great outlet for innovation and creativity. They can be a good first step for an entrepreneur looking to test a potential new business or to see what the High Street has to offer.
The Council will provide prime pop-up space for six entrepreneurs to trade over a two month period. Participants of the initiative will also be supported through marketing of the programme and retail mentoring tailored to individual needs, delivered both during and after the test period.
Commenting on the launch of the pop-up shop initiative, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott said, “This project is a fantastic idea to encourage and inspire local people to follow their dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur. I would encourage anyone thinking of pursuing their business idea to apply for this exciting venture which will also benefit Antrim town.”
The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 16 September 2016. So if you have always had a burning ambition to see if you could cut it on the High Street, now is your perfect opportunity to give it a try.
