Britain in Bloom Judges to Visit Antrim

03 August 2015

Finishing touches are underway in Antrim this week as Britain in Bloom judges are expected in the town this weekend (Saturday 8th August.)  Antrim was the winner of the Translink Ulster in Bloom Large Town category in 2014 and now a finalist in the RHS 2015 UK Finals.

Three ‘Britain in Bloom’ judges will be welcomed by the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg, and then they will embark upon a two hour tour of the town.  Judging will be based upon three criteria; horticultural environment, community participation and environmental responsibility.

Speaking about the forthcoming judging, the Mayor commented;

“I’m looking forward to welcoming the ‘Britain in Bloom’ judges to Antrim and showcasing what our wonderful town has to offer.  To be a finalist in such a prestigious UK wide competition is a huge achievement and I’d like to congratulate all those involved and the huge efforts that have been made to get this far.”

Results will be announced in October in Sheffield.
