Antrim has come out tops again, this time at Ireland’s Best Kept Towns Awards!
Out of 700 hundred entries from across the entire island of Ireland, Antrim was crowned the number one Best Kept Large Urban Centre. The awards for the Borough didn’t stop there, as Randalstown came fourth in the Best Kept Small town awards.
Alderman John Smyth, Chair of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Operations Committee was delighted with the result. He comments, “Following our success at the Northern Ireland Amenity Council awards last year, when Antrim was awarded Best Large Town and Randalstown Best Small Town, we were then put forward to the all-Ireland awards. This is a great day for Antrim, Randalstown and indeed the Borough. To have been chosen from over 700 entries is a great achievement.”
Alderman Smyth continues, “I would like to reassure our residents that we will continue to work towards overcoming the obstacles imposed upon us through new traffic regulations and budget cuts faced by Transport NI which is affecting the regular grass cutting throughout Northern Ireland. We want to ensure the Borough continues to look its best and be a source of civic pride for our residents.”
