£213,000 Road Improvement Scheme For A6 Antrim Road, Glengormley
30 April 2015
The Department for Regional Development has announced that a £213,000 road improvements scheme at the A6 Antrim Road, Glengormley is scheduled to begin on Monday 11 May.
The resurfacing scheme will extend from Sandyknowes Roundabout to Jubilee Way.
As with any scheme of this size some disruption is unavoidable. To assist with traffic management at Sandyknowes Roundabout, during the preparatory stage of the work, a one-way road closure will operate on the Antrim Road in the Glengormley bound direction from Sandyknowes Roundabout to Sandyholme Park.
Glengormley-bound traffic will be diverted via Ballyhenry Road, Ballyclare Road and Jubilee Way.
Daily lane closures will also be necessary. These will operate on the Antrim Road between Sandyholme Park and Jubilee Way, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
The preparatory stage of kerbing and footway resurfacing is expected to be complete by Friday 5 June 2015.
To safely complete final carriageway surfacing, the Antrim Road will be closed to through traffic between Sandyknowes Roundabout and Jubilee Way each Sunday in June.
TransportNI has planned the improvements to keep disruption to a minimum, however, disruption should be expected and drivers are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
