More than 700 opportunities available at upcoming Jobs Fair

The Mayor, Councillor Paul Hamill, launches the upcoming job fair with Stephen O’Neill (Translink), Stephen McGlew (DfC), Ryan Forsythe (John Mulholland Motors), Glen Young (Hendersons) and Sgt Stephen Moore (Community Planning, Antrim and Newtownabbey).
Are you looking for a new job opportunity? Or would you like to get into work but don’t know where to start? Then put Wednesday 6 June in your diary and come to the Valley Leisure Centre, for our Jobs Fair.
From 10am – 2pm and 4pm – 7pm the Council, in partnership with Department for Communities (DfC), will help you to develop the right skills and confidence to secure a job. There will be over 55 local employers promoting over 700 job vacancies, to prospective job seekers.
At the jobs fair you will be able to sample some roles first hand and meet lots of employers who will take your application. There will also be the opportunity to get help with job search activities and to receive careers advice from the experts.
At the launch of the jobs fair the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Hamill commented: “I would encourage everyone to attend this event and take the first step to creating a bright and exciting future. Employers attending on the day include Power NI, Translink, Queen's University, Randox, Galgorm Resort & Spa, Hendersons and the PSNI, so there is sure to be something here that will kick start your new career!”
Stephen McGlew, Head of Employer Services from the Department for Communities said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council in delivering a job fair in this area. With hundreds of jobs being promoted on the day, it really is an excellent opportunity to make connections, get advice, apply and potentially walk away with a new job. I would strongly encourage as many people as possible to visit the job fair and take the next steps on their career path.”
A free shuttle bus will operate between Antrim Jobs & Benefits Office and the Valley Leisure Centre throughout the day. The bus will leave Antrim Jobs & Benefits office at 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 5pm. It will leave Valley Leisure Centre at 11.45am, 1.15pm, 2.45pm, 4.15pm. 5.45pm and 7.15pm
