Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Hamill officially launched this year’s Darkness into Light which will take place at V36, Newtownabbey on Saturday 12 May at 4.15am.
The event will begin in darkness at 4.15am at V36, Newtownabbey with all participants crossing the finish line as the sun rises symbolising hope. You can take part by running or walking the 5km, with your friends, family or by yourself. Darkness into Light highlights the support available for those who have been affected by suicide or have had suicidal thoughts.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Hamill commented, “Suicide affects thousands of people across the UK every year with Northern Ireland amongst the highest statistics within the UK. Darkness into Light is a great opportunity for those who have been affected by suicide to come together and help raise suicide awareness as well as raising vital funds. In partnership with Pieta House and FOCUS, this is the third year this annual event has taken place at V36 and I would encourage you all to show your support for this worthwhile cause.”
