Northern Ireland Better Broadband Scheme
11 May 2017
Local residents and businesses, struggling with broadband services of less than 2 Mbps download speed, may wish to check their eligibility for the NI Better Broadband Scheme, run by the Department for the Economy (NI) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (UK).
The scheme offers a subsidy to cover the basic costs of securing a basic broadband connection. Eligible households and businesses will receive a unique code that will cover most of the cost of the installation and commissioning of a basic broadband service including any necessary equipment (up to a value of about £350). They will be required to enter into a contract for a minimum of 12 months with a registered supplier, and will pay any remaining cost of installation (if any), the monthly charge for the service they select, and any VAT payable.
Full details of the scheme, including how to apply, can be found at:
The scheme runs until 31 December 2017.
Please note that this is not a Council initiative, and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council will not be liable for any contractual agreements entered into by individuals or businesses.
