In a new production direct from New York, Misterman by Enda Walsh will be staged at Theatre at The Mill from Thursday 26 – Saturday 28 October. A deliciously dark comedy from the pen of one of Ireland’s most loved writers.
Enda Walsh’s play takes a stark look at the unspoken side of rural life and the isolated mind of a man on a mission in an exhilarating solo performance.
Thomas Magill lives in Innishfree with his mother. He buys her Jammie Dodgers every day and has an uneasy relationship with the other inhabitants of the town, especially the numerous dogs. Thomas is enthused with religious fervour, but seems to find himself surrounded by sin and evil everywhere. In fact, Thomas thinks sin is replacing religion and views his ‘work’ as a mission to save the townsfolk from their self-inflicted doom. Though one of his neighbours describes him as a walking saint, Thomas may not be as innocent and religiously pure as he imagines.
