Local schools bring cheer to the Borough!

Eight schools from Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough came together to take part in the Primary School Cheerleading Championship.  Claire Mullan, Everybody Active 2020 Sport NI, National Lottery funded Dance Coach organised the Primary School Cheerleading Championship in conjunction with the UK Cheerleading Association.   Claire has dedicated time over the last few months visiting the schools across the Borough choreographing and coaching pupils’ cheerleading routines which were showcased in the final today at Antrim Forum. 

The Mayor, Councillor John Scott, commented “Congratulations go to all the schools who participated and especially to the overall winners, St Joseph’s Primary School Crumlin”.  He added “This has been a fabulous event, with excellent teamwork and superb routine’s, a massive well done to the children, their teachers and Claire Mullan”.

The UKCA are hosting the 9th Northern Ireland National Cheerleading Championships in the Antrim Forum on Saturday 25 March 2017 where cheerleaders will be ‘wowing’ the crowds from grass root level squads to elite, representing Northern Ireland, England, Ireland and Scotland.
