Local Community Groups Awarded Council Funding
16 March 2017
The Mayor, Councillor John Scott, congratulates the successful groups on their Community Development and Festivals Grant Aid.
Over 60 local community and voluntary groups from across the Borough of Antrim and Newtownabbey are to receive funding from the Council through the Community Development and Festivals Grant Aid Programme for 2017-18. The programme is accessed via an online grant system and is open once a year in October to constituted community and voluntary organisations based or working in the Borough.
This funding is awarded to help groups organise a range of community projects including community festivals, summer schemes, outings, running costs for community premises, activities and insurance. The Mayor, Councillor John Scott, informed the successful groups of their funding and commented: “It is fabulous to see so many groups represented here tonight. Community and voluntary groups work tirelessly to help improve the areas they live in to ensure residents have good experiences and access to activities and events they otherwise wouldn’t.”
A Small Grants Programme is also open throughout the year, subject to budget availability. More information on these grant programmes can be found by visiting http://antrimnewtownabbey.eformz.info/ or by contacting a member of the Community Development Team on T. 028 9034 0060. The Department for Communities also provides funding towards this Grant Aid Programme.
