Juniors take a swing at Masters Competition

The Junior Golf Masters competition recently took place at Ballyearl Arts & Leisure Centre and the winners were announced on Monday 12 June with a presentation from the new Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Hamill.

The Junior Masters competition which is open to 6-14 year olds with players playing 18 holes, was won with a score of 67 by James Walsh.  Josh McKee was the runner up with a score of 75 and Aiofe Caldwell was the girl’s winner with a score of 106.

The Mini Masters play 9 holes which is open to 6-10 year olds and was won by Ben Watson with a score of 36.  Runner up was Eoin Burrow with a very close 38 and Alexandra Snoddy for the girls scored 53.

The Mayor, Councillor Paul Hamill commented “I am delighted to see so much talent in our Borough and from such a young age too.  We have great golfing facilities both at Ballyearl with our 9-hole golf course and at Allen Park, Antrim with the 18- hole golf course and new Golfing Simulator, which gives everyone the chance to improve their game.  Both facilities have a driving range and PGA Golf Professionals on site”.
