Antrim and Newtownabbey marks Irish Language Week

It was all happening at Mossley Mill on Thursday evening, as Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott hosted an event to mark Irish Language Week. The event welcomed various Irish groups from across the Borough including Lawrenson Toal Academy of Irish Dance, Gaelscoil √Čanna, Ionad Teaghlaigh Ghleann Darach, Gaelscoil Ghleann Darach and Tannaght Mor Gaelscoil.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott commented on the evening, “It is superb to see such a fantastic turn out to this event. I am delighted that the Council can show support to Irish Language Week and showcase the fantastic talent in our Borough. I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all of the guests here this evening, especially those who are performing.”

Irish Language Week takes place from the 1 March to St Patrick's Day and is the biggest and longest running Irish language festive event in the calendar year.
