Antrim Town Business Awards
27 February 2017
Anticipation was high as local businesses gathered at The Old Courthouse in Antrim Town Centre last Friday (24 February) to hear the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott, announce the results of Antrim Town Business Awards 2017.
Firstly, businesses had to self-nominate and then receive public votes through an online vote. The three businesses who received the highest numbers of votes in each category were then judged by the independent panel for outstanding performance and excellence, in their qualifying category and against specific criteria.
Announcing the winners, the Mayor said, “I am delighted to have been involved in the inaugural competition which publicly recognises the huge contribution and hard work local businesses and retailers contribute to the local economy. I was very impressed with over sixty entries received, in this first year and along with my fellow judges, found the standard extremely high. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who made it onto the shortlist”.
The guest speaker was John McCollum who is originally from Antrim. He shared his business expertise with attendees and there was a great atmosphere as nominees enjoyed networking after the awards ceremony over a hot buffet. Everyone is now looking forward to next year !
