Antrim Forum hosts the “Super Sixes Hockey Tournament” at newly refurbished hockey facility

On Friday 16 June, Antrim Men’s Hockey Club in partnership with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council hosted the 14th Annual Primary School Sixes Hockey Tournament at Antrim Forum.
A total of 10 Primary schools took part in the tournament, with the talents of over 180 children on display. The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Hamill attended the prize ceremony to congratulate those taking part and celebrate the launch of the newly refurbished hockey facility at the Marks Arena, Antrim Forum. This facility now boasts state-of-the-art synthetic carpets, shock pads, carpeted kick boards, new access ramps and a replacement drainage system.
The event comprised of 60 matches culminating in the Cup and Plate finals. The schools taking part included the local talent of Antrim Primary, Mossley Primary, Spires Integrated Primary, Greystone Primary, Maine Integrated Primary, Ashgrove Primary, Kings Park Primary, Magherafelt Primary, Templepatrick Primary and Ballycraigy Primary Schools. Congratulations go to the winners of the Cup, Mossley Primary School Girls’ A team and Mossley Primary School Boys’ A Team. Well done also to the winners of the Plate, Templepatrick Primary School Girls’ Team and Templepatrick Primary School Boys’ Team.
The Mayor commented “congratulations go to all the teams who took part today, it was great to witness the talent of the young hockey players within the Borough and thanks must go to Antrim Men’s Hockey Club who organised this event. I am impressed by the newly refurbished hockey facility. Replacing the pitch surfaces at both the Antrim Forum and Valley Leisure Centre will provide the essential facilities needed to meet demand and support the sustainability and future development of hockey for many of our local clubs and users within the Borough.”
