Training Programme Launched for Local Community Groups

September marks the launch of the Community Capacity Building Programme for local community representatives, run by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council each year from October 2016 to March 2017.
The purpose of the programme is to develop the capacity and skills of individuals from groups within the Borough and to have a positive impact on the number and quality of successful community development projects delivered in the Borough.
The courses being delivered are:
• Child Protection;
• Social Media and Website design
• CIEH Food Safety in Catering Level II;
• Emergency First Aid;
• Registering as a Charity;
• Introduction to Community Development;
• Committee Skills;
• Innovative Ways to Engage your Local Community.
Those eligible to attend include volunteers from a range of community/voluntary groups who are involved in community work within the Borough. Applicants who have not taken part in any capacity building training before will be given priority, but all volunteers from groups from within the Borough can apply and will be considered. Places are restricted to 2 volunteers per community group/organisation and all applicants must be over 16 years of age.
Each course costs £5 per person and payment must be made in advance of course commencement, to secure registration. All payments are non-refundable.
