Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg was delighted to officially open Duneane Community Gardens in Toomebridge.
These new community gardens, which consist of allotments, a seating area and a small communal building were funded by Groundwork NI through Landfill Tax Credits, the Public Health Agency and the Department of Environment’s Challenge Fund. The funding was secured by TIDAL Community Group who managed the delivery of the project and will oversee the running of the facility.
Councillor Hogg was delighted to be there to officially open the new facility, “These new community gardens are a fantastic asset for the people of Toomebridge and complement the many other outdoor features in the village, including the play area and the new outdoor gym. I hope that over the coming months our community will spend many happy hours enjoying what this facility has to offer”.
The gardens are already proving to be a popular attraction for the community with a waiting list already in operation for an allotment plot.
