Spring into Supporting Your Community Clean Up!

11 April 2016

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council are supporting The BIG Spring Clean and are calling for your help to make it happen! Last year, almost 90,000 volunteers got involved in clean up events across Northern Ireland, removing an impressive 107 tonnes of litter (equivalent to around 6 double decker buses) making it Northern Ireland's biggest volunteer clean up!

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg commented: “We want to encourage and support local residents in carrying out a litter clean-up within their immediate neighbourhood, as well as raising awareness of items which are eligible for recycling. We also provide support to anyone wishing to organise an event to clean up their local area through the Big Spring Clean initiative and throughout the year by offering local groups ‘in-kind’ support. ‘In kind’ support provides residents with a range of litter picking equipment such as gloves, hi-vests, litter pickers and bags to help with your clean up.”
