The Mayor is joined by Stuart Moore, Bertie Murray, Judith Anderson and Linda McNeill at the memory café.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg, recently visited the Forget Me Not Friends Memory Cafe at Inniscoole Day Centre to show off his fancy footwork at their tea dance.
This tea dance is just one of many community events that the café organises for those living locally with memory problems and their families. The memory café was developed as a result of a need identified in the Rathcoole Neighbourhood Renewal Action Plan and following feedback from carers in Inniscoole Day Centre.
The café officially launched in December 2015 and has been a real asset to those in the local area as the aim of the group is to signpost users to additional help and support if required. They also provide advice and information on memory loss, associated issues and opportunities for socialising. The Mayor, Councillor Thomas Hogg, commented: “The Memory Café is a fantastic asset for the Borough and provides the perfect opportunity for those affected by memory loss to receive support and guidance, which will make such a difference to their lives”.
For those living locally with memory problems and their families, you are invited to attend the regular meetings that take place on the first Wednesday of every month at 6.30pm.
