Get Your Dog Microchipped For Free

04 November 2016

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council Dog Wardens, in partnership with Dogs Trust, are running a number of community events throughout November to help promote responsible dog ownership. The events will provide free microchipping and dog waste bags, as well as offering advice on responsible dog ownership. The events are planned to take place from 11am to 3pm as follows:

Monday 7 November            Stiles Community Centre, Antrim
Tuesday 8 November            Lough Shore Park, Antrim
Wednesday 9 November       Crumlin Leisure Centre, Crumlin
Monday 14 November          Tidal Community Centre, Toomebridge
Tuesday 15 November          Sixmile Leisure Centre, Ballyclare
Wednesday 16 November     Mossley Mill, Newtownabbey
Tuesday 22 November          Andersons Park, Doagh
Thursday 24 November        Valley Leisure Centre, Newtownabbey
Tuesday 29 November          Neillsbrook Community Centre, Randalstown

Mark Sloan, Environmental Health Officer commented; “Now that the legislation has changed, it is now illegal to not have your dog microchipped. The procedure is virtually painless and helps to quickly reunite dogs with their owners if they stray. The events planned are a great chance for dog owners to get some advice with the added benefit of free microchipping so I would encourage dog owners to come along on any of the dates listed.”
