GROW South Antrim has announced its dates for the mandatory pre-application workshops for funding under the Rural Business Investment scheme.  This is a new process for applying for funding through the Rural Development Programme. Registration and attendance at a pre-registration workshop is essential if you wish to be considered for funding towards a project this year.

Councillor Vera McWilliam, Chair of the GROW South Antrim Local Action Group commented: “GROW has been allocated a total budget of approximately £2.6 million. We are looking forward to seeing funding on the ground that will make a difference to rural areas.  This first application call is for micro and small private and social enterprise businesses based in, or able to demonstrate a significant impact upon, the rural areas of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.  In the difficult economic climate, the Rural Development Programme offers excellent opportunities to support rural communities.  If you have a project idea contact a member of the GROW South Antrim team to find out whether you can benefit from the Programme.”

GROW offers a wide range of support to assist new businesses to set up or to help existing businesses with up to a maximum of 49 full time equivalent employees  to develop or expand.  Grants of up to £30,000 are available for new businesses and up to a maximum of £50,000 is available for existing businesses at a 50% grant rate. For example, if your total project cost is £20,000, you can apply to GROW for a maximum grant of £10,000.  Please note that some business activities are not eligible for support, details of eligible activities, as well as additional pre-requisites required to submit an application, including a business plan and full planning approval if required, can be found on the GROW website www.growsouthantrim.com or by contacting the GROW office on 028 9448 1311.
