Businesses urged to tune into #ANTRIMHOUR on Twitter on Monday evenings

06 October 2016

Local Business owners and key Public and Council representatives joined together on Friday 23 September in the beautiful surroundings of Antrim Castle Gardens to help raise awareness of #AntrimHour on Twitter and to encourage more local businesses to get involved.

#AntrimHour is a hashtag set up to help businesses based in County Antrim to connect and promote themselves to each other. This online business networking event takes places every Monday evening from 8pm to 9pm on Twitter and is ideal for Sole traders, Start-Ups and established business owners who are keen to build their profile and make useful connections within their local region.

Social Bee NI's Louise Brogan is the skilled hostess and tweeter behind the #AntrimHour. Louise has worked as a social media consultant and trainer for business owners for the past three years, and Twitter is one of her personal favourite social networks.  As a long time member of #AntrimHour, when the opportunity came up to take on management of #AntrimHour, it was too good to pass by.

“I have been participant of other Twitter hours and I decided to use the Question and Answer format to grow our Twitter hour.   This format gives everyone a chance to know each other a little better and to stimulate conversation.   It's a great way of connecting with local businesses and the purpose behind #AntrimHour is to grow those connections.”

The Business team at Mallusk Enterprise Park are proud to support the #AntrimHour and to work with Louise to ensure it’s success continues to grow. Karen Wilson, Business Support Executive, Mallusk Enterprise Park;

“In my experience the majority of new business owners don’t have the time or the funds to join a more established business network and the beauty of the #AntrimHour, is the fact it’s free so there’s no membership fee to worry about.  Also the fact it’s a weekly event ensures graduates of our Start-Up Business training programmes have a ready-made invaluable support network of up and running local entrepreneurs to rely on for advice and tips on how to grow their business”.

To be part of the process, you obviously need a twitter account, follow @Antrim_hr on twitter and to automatically join the business chatter on Monday night simply use the hashtag #AntrimHour in all your tweets.

Mallusk Enterprise Park and Louise Brogan would like to take this opportunity to thank Michelle Pearson from Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council for her help organising and hosting this event. Also they extend special thanks to Edel and Damian from Pauley Business Services, founders of the Antrim hour, for providing lots of patience and support during the handover process.
