Disability Action Plan

Have your say on the Draft Disability Action Plan 2016-2020

Under Section 49a of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (as amended by the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006), public authorities when carrying out their functions must have due regard to the need to:

  • promote positive attitudes towards disabled people; and
  • encourage participation by disabled people in public life.

The two duties are collectively referred to as ‘the disability duties’. Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council have designed their Draft Disability Action Plan (DAP) as our commitment to fulfilling these duties in relation to its functions.

The consultation will commence 18/05/2017 and end 10/08/2017.

The draft action plan may be accessed on the below link and paper copies will be made available on request.

We would welcome your comments on the document.
